Why did Hawthorne stop distributing INSECT FRASS?

Quoting directly from the letter we received from Hawthorne Garden Company...

"We are eliminating ~30% of our portfolio of skus stocked in our Distribution Centers, of which these skus only contribute ~1% of annual revenue but require ~5% of inventory carried."

"We want to be fully transparent with you on how we have conducted our analysis...[that] determined that the skus from your company carried by Hawthorne were not aligned with our go-forward portfolio...

  • Evaluating financial metrics at the sku level including sales volume and margin delivery.
  • Considering product use and brand positioning to identify areas of overlap across our entire portfolio [There is only one INSECT FRASS in their portfolio!]
  • Considering supply chain impact of stocking needs (distribution impact, inventory $, turns, etc.)"
